Meet Jonathan Carr:

Founder and host of the UPcoming

When I first started the UPcoming, I did it out of curiosity and fascination. Both of which came from talking to my Episode 1 guest, Ezekiel “Zeke” Clare. Zeke had just released their student film: Sow A Little Tenderness. I saw the film and immediately, I wanted to know more about it: What was it like? What inspired it? How did impact Zeke? All of this drove me to sitting with Zeke and giving an interview about them and the film.

Zeke was deeply impressed and just seeing how he answered my questions made it clear what I had to do next. I realized just how much I enjoyed talking to people, hearing their stories and learning new things. More than that, I realized just how many people like Zeke were out there for me to find. There’s so many shows about celebrities or those who’ve made it to the top. What about the people who haven’t yet?

That’s why my show is called the UPcoming.

With nothing but a single microphone, Zoom (now Riverside.fm), a recording app on my phone, and my determination, I set out to interview as many people as I could. Over the years, I’ve gained a lot of support and praise for the UPcoming. Guests have said how much fun they’ve had, some even calling me the best. I’m grateful for all of it, but it’s not just the praise that motivates me, it’s knowing that someone is seen and they can tell their story without celebrity status. That’s how the UPcoming stands out.

I’ve appeared on a few shows lately, and I want to keep promoting the UPcoming in every way possible. I won’t stop until every kid working their way to the top knows how important they really are and that they can have a spot on the UPcoming as well.

Be sure to tune in for the next episode. I release them on Sundays at 7 EST.
